A 4 days gorilla tour in Rwanda and golden monkey trekking presents two primate trekking experiences in Rwanda, Musanze caves exploration and the beach experience on Gisenyi Lake Kivu. Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
After landing in at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by driver guide who will give you a briefing on Rwanda and the safari. You set off to Volcanoes National Park about 2 to 3 hours driving through the spectacular hills of Rwanda. You will have stopover at ideal sites for sightseeing and photo taking. After, you arrive at Volcanoes National Park for rest, dinner and overnight stay in Mount Gorilla View Lodge-up market, Hotel La Palme for midrange and Muhabura Hotel for Budget.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking and Musanze caves walk
Breakfast in the morning and after you will set off for early morning briefing by the park official at the park headquarters. You will need hiking boots, insect repellent, sun screen, and rain jacket, packed lunch, bottled water, long sleeved shirts and many more items that you will check in packing list for gorilla trekking. The trek can take about 2 to eight hours or even more depending on the location of gorilla group and nature of the terrain as well as your fitness level. You will be allowed to spend one hour with the ape where you will take photos and explore their behavior. After, lunch, you will set off to Musanze caves exploration to learn more on the historic caves of Musanze that came into scene 65 million years ago by the basalt lava flow from the volcanic mountains of Sabyinyo and Bisoke. The caves have 31 entrances and stretch to two kilometers inside. The cave exploration takes you about two hours walking underground. After, you will return to the lodge for rest, dinner and overnight stay in the previous lodge.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu (Gisenyi)
Breakfast in the morning and after you will set off for golden monkey trekking starting at 7:00am from Kinigi park headquarters. You will then proceed to the trail head to look out for the rare golden monkeys that in most cases can be sighted around the bamboo. Golden monkey adventure takes about 4 hours and only one hour is allowed for you to have a face to face encounter with these striking apes in the wild. After, you will return and transfer to Gisenyi Lake Kivu about 110 kilometers approximately 2 hours drive to an afternoon chilling at the beach. You may also choose a boat cruise on Lake Kivu the largest Lake in Rwanda and after return to lodge for rest, dinner and overnight stay in Lake Kivu Serena Hotel-Luxury, Hotel Gorillas Lake Kivu-Midrange and Paradise Malahide for budget.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali
Following breakfast in the morning, you will set off to Kigali city about four hours’ drive crossing via the scenic country side prior reaching Kigali for your scheduled flight.
